Background
Dr Justin Kathage is a rural generalist doctor with Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and Advanced Specialised Training in Adult Internal Medicine. He trained across Toowoomba, Bundaberg and Eidsvold Hospitals, and has been practising across rural and regional New South Wales and Queensland since 2016.
His particular clinical interests include adult internal medicine, men's health, mental health, and chronic disease management — with a focus on improving health outcomes for rural Australians and helping to close the gap between rural and metropolitan healthcare.
Before studying medicine, Justin completed a Master of Pharmacy and worked as a community pharmacist in rural and remote NSW and Queensland — a background that informs his approach to medicines management and patient communication.
Outside medicine, Justin is a director of Westfalen Pty Ltd, a family beef cattle operation in the northern rivers of New South Wales, where he and his family are implementing regenerative farming practices including natural sequence farming and holistic planned grazing.

Having previously served as Acting Medical Superintendent at Eidsvold Hospital, he is well-accustomed to the demands and rewards of rural generalist work — including emergency cover, inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and aged care.
